MTN Champs Season 2 – 2024

MTN CHAMPS is a program in Nigeria that aims to unearth and foster athletic talent across the country. It is modelled after the Jamaican High School CHAMPS and is poised to become the primary platform for identifying and nurturing promising athletes who could go on to represent Nigeria in prestigious international competitions such as the Olympics and World Championships.

With a focus on discovering and developing athletic potential, MTN CHAMPS has the potential to transform the sporting landscape in Nigeria. Through this program, talented individuals from all corners of the country will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and receive the training and support they need to reach their full potential as world-class athletes.

Season 2 of the competition brings exciting changes and innovations. With the addition of new cities like Asaba, Kaduna, and Port Harcourt to the roster, the championship is set to spread its magic to even more corners of Nigeria. Plus, a brand-new senior category has been introduced, opening doors for adult athletes to compete alongside the younger generation.

A Platform for Talent Discovery

The Season 2 invites secondary schools from across the country to register their top athletes for a chance to compete in the championship. With over 2,000 athletes expected to participate in each event, this is a golden opportunity to showcase your skills and represent your school on a national stage.

Available Categories

  • Cadet (U14) – Born in 2011 or later AND must be in Junior Secondary School (JS 1-3)
  • Youth (U17) – Born in 2008 or later AND in Senior Secondary School (SS 1-3), OR they can also be JSS Students of the same school who are born between 2008 & 2010
  • Junior (U20) – Born in 2005 or later (can be in school, university, other team or unattached)
  • Senior – no age restrictions

Registration Details

Online registration is now open for all four locations. Schools and teams must register their entries before the deadline for each venue. Remember, only recognised officials such as principals, games masters, or athletics coaches can complete the registration process on behalf of their schools or teams.
