About the Nukta Africa’s Data Journalism Training

Nukta Africa in partnership with Internews through Boresha Habari Project funded by  Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs with complementary funding from US Agency for International Development (USAID) will conduct Data Journalism training to 60 journalists in Tanzania including those working in community radios and online media.

The training, which will be conducted online, will provide skills on data sourcing, data analysis, data visualisation and other best practices of producing engaging and impactful data-driven stories that will improve accountability and decision making. The training will be conducted between 10th October 2022 and 31st January 2023.

This training is a key step to bring together an open-data community that will connect civil society and media, and introduce possibilities for the production of impactful data-driven stories.

Benefits

The organizers will cover all training costs. After the training, 10 best journalists in terms of story ideas and commitment to learn will be given mentorship and financial support to cover and produce data-driven special reports/stories around their localities. The stipends will cover travel costs, meals, and incidentals.

Female journalists and others who are either covering or interested in covering issues of interest to women and youth that contribute to national development including health and gender will be given a priority. We will select our trainees based on their motivation and commitment to the training.
