About the FunTimes Magazine Essay competition for Black writers

The funTime Magzine essay competition is organized by FunTimes Magazine which began operating in Philadelphia, PA, over ten years ago. The magazine celebrate African, Caribbean and African American communities in the Delaware Valley. Until the end of March 2020, FunTimes was a 100-page, print magazine maintaining an online presence with about 2.4k likes and a 19K monthly user reach on Facebook. Because of the pandemic, we shifted 100% online. FunTimes has since gained over 61K likes and reached 1.7 million people.

The magazine is calling for entries from young thought leaders and Black writers across the globe to participate in our essay competition to win awesome prizes.

Topic: The Importance of Black Culture

Prizes for the winners

• 1^st position: $200 or local currency equivalent
• 2^nd position: 150 or local currency equivalent
• 3^rd position:  $100 or local currency equivalent
