What is the One World Media Fellowship?
The One World Media Fellowship is a prestigious opportunity aimed at aspiring journalists and filmmakers hailing from the global south. Whether you work in film, print, audio, photography, or multimedia, if you’re committed to reporting on the global south with integrity and creativity, this fellowship is for you.
Since 2001, One World Media has supported nearly 300 emerging journalists and filmmakers to report from over 100 countries. OWM provides each Fellow with a £1,000 grant, one-to-one mentoring, invaluable workshops and webinars by industry experts.

Since its inception in 2001, One World Media has been empowering emerging journalists and filmmakers from over 100 countries to share their stories with the world. As a fellow, you’ll receive:
- A £1,000 reporting grant to support your project.
- One-to-one mentoring from an experienced Executive Producer.
- Workshops and webinars led by industry experts.
- Guidance on fair reporting and security.
- A network of like-minded Fellows and Alumni to support you along your journey.
Who Can Apply For One World Media Fellowship?
OWM is on the lookout for early to mid-career journalists and filmmakers with captivating non-fiction stories about the global south. Whether you’re exploring a challenging topic, transitioning between mediums, or embarking on your first solo investigation, we want to hear from you.
This year, One World Media will be selecting 10 Fellows who demonstrate:
- Integrity and creativity in storytelling.
- Access to their chosen story.
- The ability to deliver their project within a year.
- A clear understanding of why they would benefit from the Fellowship.
How to Apply
Applying for the One World Media Fellowship is absolutely free! Here’s what you need to do:
- Register: Create a new user account on the One World Media Submission portal or log in if you’re a returning user.
- Complete the Form: Fill in the online form, upload the necessary documents, and provide a reference letter.
- Submit: Once everything’s ready, hit the submit button and cross your fingers!
You can submit more than one proposal, but remember that each requires a separate application.
Application Open Date and Deadline
- Open for Entries: 22nd February 2024
- Deadline: 21st March 2024
- Fellows Announced: Early June 2024
