But first, you must understand that WAEC does not issue duplicate certificates; however, they offer Attestation of Results for certificates for candidates who lost or have damaged results, and this attestation of results is as valid as the original WAEC certificate.
Step 1: Write an Application Letter
The first step is writing an application letter requesting for an attestation of result. Your letter should contain the following information:
- Your Name (in full as used in the examination)
- The Name, Month and Year of Examination
- Your Index Number (for Ghana); Examination Number for Nigeria
Candidate from Ghana can proceed to the result attestation portal fill the form, and upload their document, proceed to payment. Candidates from Nigeria can proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Obtain the Police report/Sworn affidavit from Court
The next step is obtaining a sworn affidavit from the Court requesting for attestation of result and a police report confirming the circumstances around your lost or damage certificate. This is very important as it can protect you against police arrest, if your document were stolen and the criminal uses them for criminal activities
Step 3: Gather additional documents
You will need a photocopy of the lost or damage certificate, and Two recent passport photo
Step 4: Visit the Nearest WAEC office
When you get to the WAEC office; present your letter with all the additional documents, you will be requested to pay administrative charges; after that, your attestation letter will be processed.
