About GOAL NextGen Youth Programme

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme is a unique opportunity for young changemakers to delve into critical issues such as conflict, climate change, and gender equality. Through a series of interactive sessions, participants will engage with peers from around the world, gaining insights into global citizenship and exploring pathways to create positive impact. From online seminars to in-person retreats, this programme offers a dynamic learning experience that will empower you to be a catalyst for change.

Who Can Apply?

GOAL is looking for interested candidates who satisfy the following requirements;

  • Must be between ages 18 and 25
  • Must currently reside in either Ireland, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Uganda, or Zimbabwe
  • Must be fluent in English and eager to commit to 10 seminars between May and July
  • Must be either a student, a recent graduate, or actively involved in their community
  • Must be passionate about social change

How to Apply for GOAL NextGen Youth Programme

Ready to take the first step towards becoming a NextGen Youth Ambassador? Here’s what you need to do:

  • Email nextgenyouth@goal.ie with the subject line “Name, Country, NextGen Youth Application” by April 1st.
  • Attach your CV and a 1-page cover letter addressing why you’re applying for the programme and what skills you bring to the table.
  • Alternatively, record a short video (1-2 minutes) introducing yourself and addressing the same questions as above.
  • Be sure to indicate if you have access to a phone or laptop for participation.

Application Timeline

  • Application Deadline: April 1st.
  • Notification of successful applicants: May 6th.

Programme Dates:

The 2024 Programme will consist of 10 sessions that take place online, with 3 sessions in-person for Irish based participants.

  • Sat May 25 Irish based participants in-person 11-4pm.
  • Tue May 28 International participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu June 6 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu June 13 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu June 20 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu June 27 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Sat & Sun June 29, 30 Irish based participants in person retreat. Time and location TBC.
  • Thu July 4 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu July 11 All participants online 3-5pm
  • Thu July 18 Irish based participants in-person 11-3pm. Hybrid meeting with all participants 2-3-pm

Sessions to take place on Thursdays at 3pm Irish Time and Saturdays 11am Irish Time. Dates and times will be confirmed before the start of the programme. In order to ensure participation of this global cohort, sessions will take place on Thursdays at 3pm Irish Time (8am Honduras, 2pm Sierra Leone, 4pm Zimbabwe, 5pm Ethiopia & Uganda).
