About the MSIF’s McDonald Fellowships
The McDonald Fellowship is designed to enable talented researchers to work in renowned research institutions outside their home countries. Over a two-year period, fellows will immerse themselves in collaborative research projects or gain valuable expertise in their chosen field. With grants of approximately £30,000 GBP per year, fellows receive financial support to cover travel, living expenses, and a contribution to the host institution. Additionally, selected fellows will have the opportunity to attend the annual congress of ECTRIMS, the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for this fellowship programme, you;
- Must be a postgraduate students (at least MSc, preferably PhD/MD) researching Multiple Sclerosis

- Must be currently working or studying in a low- or middle-income country.
The McDonald Fellowship welcomes applicants committed to advancing MS research and patient care. The fellowship may also be used to partially fund a PhD programme, provided the candidate has already been accepted into a recognised institute.
