About the MSIF’s McDonald Fellowships

The McDonald Fellowship is designed to enable talented researchers to work in renowned research institutions outside their home countries. Over a two-year period, fellows will immerse themselves in collaborative research projects or gain valuable expertise in their chosen field. With grants of approximately £30,000 GBP per year, fellows receive financial support to cover travel, living expenses, and a contribution to the host institution. Additionally, selected fellows will have the opportunity to attend the annual congress of ECTRIMS, the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS.

  1. Identify your project and field of interest.
  2. Contact and agree on the project proposal with your host institution.
  3. Complete all sections of the online application form available on the MSIF website (Click here).
  4. Once you’ve submitted your application, ensure your host provides a supporting statement through the same application form.
  5. Request three referees to send their reference letters to research@msif.org before the 30th June deadline.
  6. Familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions of the Award to understand reporting requirements and payment details.

Application Deadline

Mark your calendars! The application deadline, including the online form, reference letters, and host supporting statement, is 30th June 2024. Ensure you submit your application with sufficient time for your host to provide their statement and for referees to send their letters. Late submissions will not be considered.
