This year, Youth4Nigeria International Youth Day Essay competition is shining the spotlight on a specific problem weighing our nation- low youth political participation. The essay writing competition aims to get young people to think critically about this, join the discourse and give their analyses around the drivers, and impact of youth political participation.

International Youth Day Essay Competition’s Topic:
This year’s topic is : The Importance of youth participation in politics
Prizes:
The best 3 essays would win cash prizes as follows:
- 1st Place: N50, 000
- 2nd place: N30,000
- 3rd Place: N15, 000
Essays would be scored by the following criteria:
- Proper formatting (double spaced, justified alignment), proper punctuation and no grammatical errors- 5 marks
- Identifying the drivers of low youth political participation- 10 marks
- Linking this low participation to other governance issues and broader systemic or national issues- 15 Marks
- Proffering practical solutions to the above, and suggesting practical ways to boost youth interest and involvement in politics in all its expressions- 20 Marks
Total: 50 marks
Eligibility:
- Participants must be between 18-30, residing in Nigeria
- Must be following Youth4Nigeria (@ayouth4nigeria) on social media platforms
