About The Halcyon Africa Climate Fellowship
The Halcyon Africa Climate Fellowship, supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Office of Global Partnerships at the U.S. State Department, brings together up to 10 ventures founded by entrepreneurs from across Sub-Saharan Africa. Through expert training, critical resources, and in-person residencies in Washington, D.C., and Nairobi, Kenya, fellows gain the tools and support needed to accelerate their ventures and drive climate impact.

Programme Structure
The fellowship programme is structured to provide comprehensive support to fellows, including:
- Virtual kick-off meeting
- One-week residency in Washington, D.C.
- Monthly virtual meetings
- One-week residency in Nairobi
Timeline
- March 22, 2024: Application closes
- May/June 2024: Finalists invited to a virtual pitch with Selection Committee
- June 2024: Selected fellows notified
- July 18, 2024: Virtual Kickoff Meeting
- July 29–August 2, 2024: In-person residency in Washington, D.C.
- August 15, September 19, and October 10, 2024: Monthly Virtual Meetings
- November 11 – 15, 2024: In-person residency in Nairobi
Benefits
Accepted fellows will receive a range of benefits, including:
- $5,000 USD per venture equity-free stipend for travel expenses
- One-week residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.
- one-week residency in Nairobi with a culminating event featuring pitches and connections to investors
- Bespoke training on product-market fit, investment readiness, leadership, storytelling, and pitching

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, startups must:
- Be based in and/or serve Sub-Saharan Africa
- Have a Minimum Viable Product with potential for scale
- Have fluent English-speaking CEOs or primary decision-makers
- Be at least 21 years old
- Participate in all programme activities
- Develop products and ventures contributing to at least one of the UN’s 17 SDGs
